Bill to Propose: Build a garage
Additional Notes: Having to rely on taxi cabs and public transportation in industrialized worlds is inefficient, inconvenient, and can get costly. This bill would authorize the construction of a garage for personnel to store vehicles in. The garage would be set up like a parking garage. It would be two stories tall, with dimensions being 1000 ft x 1000 ft x 70 ft (length/width/height, respectively). Additional stories maintaining dimensions of the previous stories would be added as more personnel with vehicles filter into the organization. Parking spaces would be designed with non-commercial automobiles in mind. Owners of the vehicles would be responsible for the upkeep of their own vehicles.

Added in by Councilor Miles Edgeworth

The garage would be connected directly to the Gate Complex, and vehicles would not be allowed in any part of the compound other than the garage and the Gate Complex. Furthermore, in addition to being responsible for the upkeep of their own vehicles, personnel will be fined for any damages, superficial or serious, that the vehicles may cause on Confuto Ordinatio grounds. Finally, the personnel stationed in the Gate Complex will have the authority to direct vehicular traffic as necessary to avoid or mitigate accidents.

There's drunken rambling going on, though you could swear he just made some sort of Japanese onomatopoeia for cars in there.

...Father is going to have to abstain from this vote. *sigh*

Somebody spiked the tea, and he got drunk instantly the moment he got into the rice bowl. I can't even figure out how the alcohol stayed in, it was hot tea...

Wait, heat gets rid of alcohol? This makes no sense, kid!

[Someone's not very good with math and science. Pay him no mind.]

But I say we need this. I am currently unable to traverse far in most worlds because I cannot bring any of my vehicles into the world. I would be able to do much more without exhausting myself if this was implimented.

[Because everyone knows that it's all about his needs. Screw the budget!]

If gigantic robots have no issue getting from their hangar to the Gate Complex, then a garage should be little issue, as well. All we would need to do is connect it directly to the Gate Complex.

I, for one, support this bill, as well.

That's a good point. It's not really fair to have only a garage for giant robots but not cars.

[while not really against that strongly against the garage, she's mostly just supporting Bow...]

But giant robots do not require roads, which cars do... I suppose the cars could simply drive without roads, but would they not leave tire streaks? And most cars drip liquids and oil as well, do they not?

And don't cars require gasoline as well? We would need to have a gas station or some form of gas supply... Also, if people begin driving cars around CO, would we not require traffic signs and lights to avoid possible accidents?

Not to mention that motor vehicles cause pollution in general... I will have to oppose this motion as well. Cars are necessary in various worlds for transportation needs, but I do not see why we need them here in Confuto Ordinatio.

... actually, that... that's a good point, too.

It also operates on a lot of assumptions. First, the assumption that the garage wouldn't be anywhere near the gate complex. We could have the garage connected directly to the gate complex, which would eliminate the need for roads. We also have personnel on standby there at all times, who could direct traffic if need be. That eliminates the need for traffic lights and signs.

Secondly, fluids and gasoline, and any possible leaks, fall under the purview of the Agent who owns the vehicle. It specifically states in the bill that all personnel would be responsible for the upkeep of their own vehicles. Should there be an issue, a citation can always be given to any Agent whose vehicle is leaking.

Third, let us consider that not all worlds are set in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. There are worlds with alternative sources of energy, including for automobiles.

And finally, as stated, the cars would see minimal use in Confuto Ordinatio. They're for personnel to have convenient transportation in any world where automobiles are present.

I believe that, should regulations be placed limiting use of the vehicles in Confuto Ordinatio to travel between the garage and the gates, as well as strictly enforcing that the owner of the vehicle is responsible not only for their own vehicle's upkeep, but the repair of any damage (both superficial and significant) caused by said vehicle, that there shouldn't be any problems with allowing the garage.

As was said, it is a bit unfair that there is a hangar for more advanced vehicles, and not for the more mundane.

In fact, I think I'll write these into the bill. We don't want any loopholes to be exploited.

That sounds quite reasonable.

Hmmm, I think this is a good idea. It will not always be possible to secure a car in the world we visit as fast as we may need it, or even the type of car we need. I suggested we have a few different models, ranging from High class to Trucks. It's better to be safe then sorry.

Besides, a truck is a great weapon when used in the right hands, right Flandre?

Some of you clearly haven't examined the sprawling mess that is the gate complex as thoroughly as I have. Ah, well.

[Bow seems pleased with the amount of dissent she's managed from raising her one objection alone.]

And if anyone uses a vehicle as a weapon under any circumstances that aren't extraordinary, they have no business driving.
